چکیده

The interaction region of hard exclusive hadron scattering can have a large transverse size due to endpoint contributions, where one parton carries most of the hadron momentum. The endpoint region is enhanced and can dominate in processes involving multiple scattering and quark helicity flip. The endpoint Fock states have perturbatively short lifetimes, hence are not Sudakov suppressed and scatter softly in the target. Endpoint contributions can explain the apparent absence of color transparency in fixed angle exclusive scattering and the dimensional scaling of transverse ρ photoproduction at high momentum transfer, which requires quark helicity flip.

Gpds, Form Factors and Compton Scattering

As is well-known factorization is an important property of QCD whithout which we would not be able to calculate form factors or cross sections. Factorization into a hard parton-level subprocess to be calculated from perturbative QED and/or QCD, and soft hadronic matrix elements which are subject to non-perturbative QCD and are not calculable at present, has been shown to hold for a number of re...

Hard Exclusive J/ψ Leptoproduction on Polarized Targets †

We consider the exclusive production of J/ψ mesons in polarized virtual-photon–proton collisions. We derive helicity amplitudes for the dominant subprocess γ * g → J/ψ g and show that polarization asymmetries vanish in the case of collinear scattering. Thus, contrary to what has been suggested earlier, this process is not a good probe of the polarized gluon distribution ∆g(x, Q 2) of the proton.

Generalized Parton Distributions and wide-angle exclusive scattering

Recently a new approach to wide-angle Compton scattering off protons has been proposed [1,2] where, for Mandelstam variables s,−t,−u that are large as compared to a typical hadronic scale, Λ of the order of 1 GeV, the process amplitudes factorize into a hard parton-level subprocess, Compton scattering off quarks, and in soft form factors which represent 1/xmoments of generalized parton distribu...

SKEWED PARTON DISTRIBUTIONS AND WIDE - ANGLE EXCLUSIVE SCATTERING P . Kroll

The overlap representation of skewed parton distributions (SPDs) is discussed and applications to wide-angle Compton scattering and electroproduction of mesons are presented. The amplitudes for these processes factorise into parton-level subprocess amplitudes and form factors representing 1/x-moments of SPDs. Key-words: skewed parton distributions, wide-angle exclusive reactions Invited talk pr...

Hard hadronic exclusive processes are now at the forefront of QCD studies, particularly because of their role in the interpretation of exclusive hadronic B decays, processes which are essential for determining the CKM phases and the physics of CP violation. Perturbative QCD and its factorization properties at high momentum transfer provide an essential guide to the phenomenology of exclusive am...
